My sons are quite the comedy team. They get along as well as any parents could hope. I never lack for a chuckle or an outright belly laugh as I listen to them converse with each other. Their typically insult-ridden banter is as close as they get to a PDA (Public Display of Affection). I know, I probably am not doing my parental duty by encouraging them with laughter but one can hardly help it.
As Tom and I are having coffee in the kitchen one recent morning, I ask:
Me: Can you and Sam take the Christmas lights off the front of the house today?
Tom: Sure.
Later...
Me: Thanks for taking the lights down today, boys.
Sam: (Smiling) It only took about two minutes to do. We spent more time insulting each other before we actually got started.
Charming, I'm sure.
